The Argentina international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League since the start of last season, with the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United thought to be lining up offers.

Reports yesterday suggested the Gunners were on the verge of launching a £42million offer, but according to the Daily Star, Jose Mourinho is now ready to throw his hat into the ring.

Chelsea are on the lookout for a new striker to line up alongside Diego Costa with Didier Drogba leaving this summer. 27-year-old Higuain looks destined to leave Serie A ahead of next season with manager Rafael Benitez already departing for Real Madrid.

The striker has bagged 51 goals in 98 games for the Italian side and Mourinho worked with Higuain during the duo’s time at Madrid.

With Didier Drogba leaving Chelsea, and recent reports claiming that Diego Costa is unhappy at Stamford Bridge, the Premier League champions could be forced to bring in a top addition up front.
Higuain scored 29 goals in all competitions last season for Napoli.

With manager Rafael Benitez taking charge of Real Madrid and the club not playing in the Champions League next season after finishing fifth in Serie A last term, it could be a summer of big changes at the Stadio San Paolo.

The 27-year-old signed for the Italian side form Real Madrid for £29m back in July 2013. Napoli beat off competition from both Arsenal and Liverpool for the player then.
For Argentina, Higuain has scored 23 goals in 46 appearances at international level.
